How to Kite Mobs in EQ

Author: inwowgold Source: http://www.inwowgold.com

Do you know how to kite mobs in the MMORPG Ever-Quest? The technique of 'kiting' mobs (NPC enemies) gets its name from the fact that it involves running around with the mob chasing behind, much like a kite. If do properly, this technique can yield experience with little harm to the kiter. There are several ways on how to kite a mob in the EQ.
The first way is to choose a class suitable for kiting. It is obvious that melee class won't be able to accomplish this task with the exception of the shadow knight. Just like Druids, wizards, necromancers and bards are particularly adept at kiting and Druids obtain kiting spells particularly early in the game. The ability to snare is not mandatory, but it is very helpful. Together, Snare and movement speed make it much, much easier.
The second way is to find a place suitable for kiting. In general, large, wide-open areas are so preferred, though a skilled kiter can kite in dungeons.
The third way is to find a target. It is ideal that kite targets should be melee fighters only. Spell casters tend to cause problems during kiting since they can hit you from a distance. Similarly, you should watch out for targets that use ranged attacks such as bows and arrows. Most classes can bring down a yellow or white-con target without draining a full bar of mana.
The fourth way is to get a movement speed buff. Cast or have someone cast Spirit of Wolf or Spirit of Eagle on you. Again, movement speed increases are not necessary if you can snare, but they make the process easier and give you a backup method for escape, should your snare break or be resisted when you're not expecting it.
The fifth way is to snare the target. This is one of the main techniques for kiting and is often referred to as snare kiting. When the target is snared, you have the ability to stay easily ahead of it during the kiting process.
The sixth way is to begin kiting. You should maintain a good distance from your target before you start casting a spell. It helps to know the approximate number of seconds that it takes to cast a particular spell.
You can not only begin with using your DoT spells, if applicable. These will help to weaken the target and will save your time spent on waiting for mana later but you can wait for the DoT spells to apply a considerable amount of damage. This is necessary so that you are not wasting extra mana in casting your direct damage spells.
Likewise, you hit your target with your strongest direct damage spell. Continue to hit the target with your direct damage spells until it is defeated.
The seventh way is to meditate to regain your mana and repeat the process. You don't forget to loot your kills.
The last but not least, you should understand the strength of the "mob" your about to kill, look it up on online, and make sure that it does not summon. If this is your first time killing this "mob", have full mana just in case.
