Vault of War
Welcome to the Vault of War, adventurer: This is the floor you will first encounter in the Stronghold of Security - the legendary dungeon that demands nothing less than the most robust and powerful among you. That you have come here tells me that you desire to know the secrets of this dungeon and to claim the prizes that it offers. Behind the doors are a number of my finest warriors, and I will allow no one to pass without first answering my questions.
This floor is dedicated to battle, but you must also know how to protect yourself - especially from those who would try to deceive you. As the embodiment of War I despise such trickery.
The Vault of War is a complex series of passages, doors and rooms. To reach the central chamber you will need to fight your way through a variety of my creations and pass through a number of doors. If you find yourself lost you may climb the spiked chains to return to the start of the level. If you are powerful enough, or have already found your way to another level, you may enter the portal at the start of this level to go directly to the central chamber.
Once you reach the central chamber you will find a chest, the Gift of Peace, which is my offering to those worthy to pass through to the next level. There are also two ladders: one of these leads to the Catacomb of Famine, while the other leads back into the light of the world above.
Creatures in the Depths
Goblin (Level 5/13) Goblins may not strike you as a dangerous foe, adventurer, but recall that the Vault of War is a multicombat area. If you anger the goblins and they all turn upon you, a horde of goblins becomes a dangerous enemy.
Wolf (Level 11) these wolves are the wolves that hunt for me at midnight, seeking the blood of cowards and fools. When they are within the Vault the scent of adventurers drives them to frenzy.
Minotaur (Level 12/27) truly, the Minotaur is the finest beast of war. With their cruel horns they gore their foes and with the unnatural strength in their arms they tear their enemies into fragments. It is a good thing for the world that Minotaur is not widely spread.
Catacomb of Famine
Greetings, wanderer, and welcome to the Catacomb of Famine. Here you will find no rest or sustenance, only the slow gnawing of sand against skin and hunger against your ribs. I have made my catacomb from the bones of those that have come before you and filled it with the scent of neglect and starvation.
Beware that my domain is more complex than the Vault of War and my starved servants more terrible. But I am not ungenerous and those that find their way to my centre will be well rewarded by the Grain of Plenty. To reach it, however, you must answer my questions, or expect not to travel far.
Like the twisting of intestines, the warren of my corridors will wear you down to sate my hunger. You should not come unprepared, or my minions will make you regret your flawed decision. The route to my final chamber is long and difficult, but you will find ropes in various places that will return you to the relative safety of the start of the Catacomb.
If your hunger for my prize is great enough, you will find your way to the end where my prize awaits you. There is also a ladder and a rope. The rope will return you to the start of the level, while the ladder will deliver you to my brother's dungeon, the Pit of Pestilence.
The Ravenous Beasts
Giant rat (Level 26) you will find no Giant rat like mine on the surface of RuneScape, for mine are brutal creatures rose upon a diet of bones and dust. They are forever hungry and will not pass up the opportunity to feast upon a wanderer such as yourself. Flesh crawler (Level 28/35/41)The Flesh crawlers are my finest creation, beyond compare in the lands above the Stronghold of Security. They are ravenous beasts with mandibles designed to strip the flesh from your bones and to snap your bones to pieces - the better to convert them to the dust and sand that lines my floors.
Zombie (Level 30/44/53) those unlucky few who starve to death trying to defeat my labyrinth are not eaten by my other pets. They become my unwilling slaves, bound forever to guard the cavities in my depths. They are tireless workers and fighters.
Pit of Pestilence
I greet you, Healthy One, and bid you enter into the Pit of Pestilence. Here you will find me most welcoming and eager to introduce you to my children. I see the warmth in your body and the tiniest diseases within you waiting to find their way to your surface.
Please permit me to offer you the flavour of my air and the murkiness of my water. Unlike my brothers, I will not try to discourage you or threaten you with dangers.
The Pit of Pestilence is a living being as you can see, and even the walls and floor are welcoming. Take care to see all the sights I have laid out for you and to visit each of my pets with your company.
Each of the dripping vines that I have grown in my garden will return you to the start should you prefer that place for your entertainment, except the vine that grows in my final chamber which will return you to my brother's Catacomb of Famine. The ladder that you will find in that same room goes deeper into the Stronghold of Security to the Sepulchre of Death, our eldest brother's home.
