Guide to Onyxia Solo

Author: inwowgold Source: http://www.inwowgold.com

As everyone knows, the Mages, Warriors, Priests and Rogues are the only classes left that are struggling to solo our favorite dragonlady. Killing her is sure a great way of earning 170-200g and getting some other loot and at the same time has a lot of fun with a hard challenge.
But we will cover up how shadow Priests are able to solo it. This is a mana fight, not a healing fight. Remember that you should use your Shadow Fiend and Dispersion as early as possible to gain full benefit from them.
In the first phase, Flame Breath does about 3000 damage and is the most lethal attack done but should not pose a big threat.
Cleave does about 1000 -1200 damage.
Wing Buffet does about 700 Damage and knocks you back, so stand against a wall.
Knockback lowers your threat but since you are soloing, it will not matter. Every once in a while she does a knockback, dealing no damage but knocking you back.
During this phase, you have no problems keeping your health up. You should simply keep Vampiric Touch, Shadow Word: Pain, Vampiric Embrace up at all times and use Mind Blast at every cooldown and mind flay away while you have time. If you need to use Devouring Plague to keep yourself alive, we wouldn't say that you are geared enough to do it. No Shadow Word: Death obviously.
In the second phase, she is up in the air and firing firebolts at you. You are unable to dodge them, even if it looks like it. You should simply tank her, and don't run around like a chicken. We remembered that we did our first time and ended with the whelps killing us.
She spawns quite many whelps when she flies up in the air, that you should be gathered up and killed by a single Mind Sear. They are very troublesome if not dealt with and will most likely kill you. You must spend the mana from Mana Sear wisely, so you should do gather them up before using it. Preferably you could use a shield before starting to channel it. She continuously sends out more whelps, but not as much. You should only have to worry about the ones in the start.
Keeping your health high is the hard thing about this so you must keep all Damage over Times up with vampiric embrace, including Devouring Plague on Onyxia. If you do drop low, because you most likely will, you can use shield. This is the hardest part of the encounter, if you can keep mana and health high, the third phase should be a walk in the park.
The third phase is close to the first phase, except that she fears now. WotF and Fear Ward is great assets during this fight, but isn't necessary. You must spend your mana wisely, if you can (have enough spell power) avoid using Devouring Plague due to its high mana cost.
Remember that the worse gear you have the more buffs you need. We can recommend Runic Mana Potion, Mighty Rhino Dogs, and Elixir of Mighty Mageblood. None are required, but if you don't have great gear, it could be necessary. Majestic Dragon Figurine is a great trinket we used.
