You should be more or less familiar with warrior skills and how to use them in general. Some important rules for a Protection warrior, even moreso than other specs:
1. Always keep Battle Shout up. You need the AP.
2. Battle Stance is most often the stance of choice for a Protection warrior. It allows for shield bashes against casters and less damage taken than Berserker Stance, which is obviously key when your goal is to survive.
3. Don't forget to switch to Berserker Stance and use Berserker Rage whenever possible to gain more rage from damage. The only exceptions are when you need to save it as a fear break.
4. Do everything you can to get behind your opponent and keep them in front of you. As important as this is to any melee character, it's one of those small advantages you need to try and master with Protection spec.
5. Get the SpellAlert mod if you don't have it. Against casters, it's often important to pick out certain spells to counter; this mod tells you what's coming.
6. If you need Last Stand at the end of a fight, use it.
To simplify things, I'll go down the class list and give tips on how to fight one-on-one, then wrap it up with group PvP. Remember, a Protection warrior is best played as a support class in PvP. Single combat is going to be difficult, but it need not be impossible. I will not include use of racials outside of undead, as that's the only race I have enough experience with to feel comfortable mentioning, but always be aware of your racial skills and put them to work whenever possible. And if much of this looks like basic PvP strategy for any warrior, that's because, in many cases, it is. Concussion Blow and Shield Slam can't win the day by themselves.
