Warlocks of course cast spells or inflict damage, they acquire a specific profession. Within the game of World of Warcraft, Warlocks are able to have a specific profession. Their professions can help them increase their magical powers, increase experience, stamina, health and other abilities.
You won't want to waste your time on professions such as Blacksmithing, Skinning or Fishing. The best professions for a Warlock are herbalism, enchanting and alchemy. Tailoring is also a great choice since you will need cloths for your spell casting. It's a good idea to pick a very strong primary profession that will be supported by a secondary profession.
There are different professions that go very well with the Warlock class but not all professions benefit the Warlock. The first of which is Alchemy and Herbalism. These professions help the Warlock to obtain potions and can sell herbs at the Auction House. Selling herbs can help the Warlock earn more gold because they sell at a higher price.
Enchanting fairs well and it does not require a gathering profession so you can choose other profession. Tailoring helps the Warlock create a stronger not to mention the Robe of Arcana. The Robe of Arcana can only be obtained from a tailor that is needed in a particular Warlock quest. The Shadowcloth, Primal Mooncloth and Spellcloth are the specialty recipes for tailoring in the expansion of The Burning Crusade. There are also a lot of pieces of Warlock gears that are worth the effort like Wrath of Spellfire and Shadow's Embrace.
Tailoring can be the best profession most especially for Warlocks specializing in the Affliction ability. The Shadow's Embrace gear is very useful because it contains a huge amount of spell damage. When it is accompanied with Great Dawnstone, it will go along with the warlock through T4 and T5 content. Other items that tailoring provide are Netherweave Net and Ebon Shadowbag.
Note that the issue with enchanting is that it can be hard to level with. There are times, particularly near the end of vanilla WoW content, where gathering mats can be torture. Though at the same time, being able to quest in fully enchanted gear all the way through your leveling can go a long way towards making life a lot simpler. Particularly at low levels, when the stamina available on gear hasn't quite caught up with your need to Life Tap yet.
Alchemy is one of those interesting catch-all professions. In the game, everyone benefits from what it produces so it is a perfectly valid profession for any class. Some of the perks Alchemists get, such as Mixology, and the Crazy Alchemist's Potion are great, though personally I find them a bit lackluster in comparison with some of the perks provided by other professions.
Prior to leveling Alchemy, one thing you must take into consideration is that as a Warlock, one has the ability to create health-stones, making the need for health potions somewhat less pressing. However, there are a lot of other types of consumables Alchemists can create, so it's really a matter of taste.
To sum up, the profession you pick up doesn't make a lot of difference. It is for sure that there are some professions are better than others for Warlock.
