There are two types of dungeons: smaller non-instanced dungeons that are called places of interest and larger instanced dungeons called world dungeons.
World Dungeons are grander in scale, and are designed for more epic encounters. They come in both five-person and raid varieties. The raid dungeons are designed for raids of specific sizes, which include 10, 15, 20, 25, or 40 players. In Azeroth, there are dungeons like Stratholme, Blackwing Lair, Blackrock Spire, Dire Maul, and Zul'Gurub.
Each time a group enters a world dungeon's entrance portal, an instance of that area is created just for that group. Two groups that enter the instance portal at the same time will each get their own copy, or instance of the dungeon. This allows you and a group of friends to have a more personal experience, such as exploring, adventuring or completing quests in your own private dungeon
Raid dungeons are designed to provide the greatest challenges and greatest rewards, which are attainable in the game from a PvE standpoint. The raid dungeons of World of Warcraft will require the entire raid to use precise teamwork in order to defeat the challenges within. The bosses within raid dungeons are the most fearsome in the game, such as the dragons Onyxia and Nefarian, as well as famous characters from World of Warcraft lore. Each raid dungeon is designed for a specific raid size. Karazhan, one of the new raid dungeons in The Burning Crusade, is designed for ten level 70 players. Molten Core, one of the first raids introduced to the game, is designed for forty level 60 players.
Outside of the challenging battles, fearsome bosses, interesting lore and variety of colorful settings in world dungeons, they are also home to many powerful rewards. The many world dungeons of World of Warcraft have much to offer every player.
If a group of players enter an instance dungeon, the group leader can add a new player to the group without actually being near that player by using the /invite command. Once the new player is added, he or she can enter the same instance that the rest of the group is in.
Take advantage of them and have fun. Wish you good luck!
