We know that you already know the basics about Maple Story and are looking for a guide on what job to choose as a level 30 Magician. If so, you should pay more attention.
As a level 30 Magician, there are three different jobs available to you and they vary from one another to large scale. It is very important that you must choose the right one in that there is no going back once you make the choice.
The first job is Fire Mage. Fire Mages have the most powerful second job skills. As a Fire Mage, you will have to stay in El Nath and Icy areas mostly until you reach higher levels. You'll have some periods where leveling is very slow, but then once your spells get stronger leveling will be an ease.
Killing Jr. Grupins at around level 38 will get you lots of Mesos and the occasional wand scroll. Once your fire is strong enough you can start killing Jr. Pepes and eventually Jr. Yetis. Then you can move on to the bigger monsters such as Grupins, zombies, yetis and the like.
Fire Mage might be the right Maple Story character for you if you like snow and winter maps and you have the patience necessary to stay with one kind of monster for several levels. Keep this in mind that the third job spells for Fire Mages are awesome. You will be able to have Explosion and Poison mist, which are amazing spells. The road up to level 70 is hard and demands a lot of patience, which is the only disadvantage.
The second job is Ice/Lighting you can go with. As an Ice/Lightning Mage, you'll be given fascinating spells from the very start, and very fast leveling. In this respect, you should take the one thing into consideration is how much money you have or else you can easily get bored.
In general, Ice/Lightning Magicians are not wealthy characters. As a mass attack, thunder spear gives you very fast leveling and can be used on many monsters like Jr. Grupins, Star Pixies, and Lorangs. However, the MP cost of this attack is enormous and if you choose to become a Maple Story Ice/Lightning Magician, you have to sacrifice clothing and scrolling unless you have a back up character to supply with Mesos. At least, you should have a few millions in the bank if you choose to go this route.
But Ice/Lightning Magicians can choose to focus on ice strike. You will easily get bored and it is just not worth it, although you are able to make money this way.
As far as leveling and excitement is concerned, going with Ice/Lightning for players with money in Maple Story is the best choice.
Clerics are the third job. In Maple Story, Clerics are known to be money makers and fast levers. They build up big buddy lists with their ability to heal and bless, and are able to enter into parties with ease.
However, Clerics have several downsides to them. Firstly the monsters you train on are limited and you don't have a wide range of areas to go to. Secondly you don't have powerful spells and have to bear with the humiliation of doing half the damage of characters ten levels behind you. Lastly, Clerics can easily get very boring.
Becoming a Cleric is the way for you to go if you've patience, want money and quick but boring leveling.
