We will mostly talk about two skills such as MP Eater and Improving MP Recovery for you in Maple Story.
Firstly we begin with MP Eater. Let's get down to the business.
When you have reached the second job in MS, Fire Mages and Ice/Lightning Mages get a skill called MP Eater. MP Eater steals MP from the monsters you kill. That is to say, every monster has a certain amount of MP and when you use your spell on them, you get a chance of sucking some of that MP out of them. There is a certain percentage that decides how often you will get lucky.
MP Eater is an excellent skill, giving you lots of money and is passive so you can sit back and watch it work as you are killing. On some monsters and levels, you can train without filling up your MP at all, because the amount of MP that you get back is more than you put in. This is dependent on how much MP the monster has, but how many skill points you have put in it.
If you are training at low-MP monsters, you will not get much MP back at all. In this situation you should think ahead, because you'll be able to move onto higher monsters with higher MP. We suggest that if you want to train for a long time, you max other skills before MP Eater. Plan ahead and have MP Eater maxed when you move on to high-MP monsters.
Now it is time to make mention of Improving MP Recovery skill. It is a passive skill in Maple Story, meaning you do not have to turn it on. This skill works by itself constantly.
In Maple Story, you recover MP every ten seconds and this skill lets you recover more MP than usual. The more points you have in this skill the faster your MP will be recovered. Not to mention, this skill should be maxed since it gives you free MP.
The amount of MP you get depends on your character level, so when you are level 100 you will receive twice as much as when you are level 50.
There are only 16 points that can be put into this skill, and you should really max it. It's not an absolute necessity like Magic Guard, but getting free MP is good as you save very much money.
There is a formula which can give you an estimate on how much MP you will receive every ten seconds. You probably divide your skill level with ten, multiply by your character level and add three to the total. We will show you how it works.
For example, if your character is level 50 and you only have one point in MP recovery, which means that every ten seconds you recover 5.5 MP. This is very little MP and is pretty worthless.
If you have 15 points in MP recovery, you'll recover approximately 83 MP every ten seconds. In one minute this adds up to almost 500 MP, and in an hour you'll have recovered 30 thousand MP.
As you level the amount of MP, you get every ten seconds increase, so this skill will give you MP proportionate to your level.
Since MP is expensive, anybody wants to spend unnecessary money on it. That's why many love this passive skill, all you have to do is to put 16 points in it at the beginning of the game and you get paid for the rest of your characters life.
After you max Improving Max MP, you should usually max this skill so you get the most back from it. If you like the idea of getting free MP, this skill is a must-have.
