Healing as a Druid has not changed, but a lot have been added! Here are some tips n tricks to healing in Raids, and Heroics. PvP comes later.
But first and foremost you must run down on the spells.
Wild growth will be ticking for 700 on the first tick With around 1900 spell power. With its mana cost as high as it is, it is only viable on fights such as sapphiron or thaddius beginning phase. We used to use this spell to stack on top of a tank along with all my other hots, but it ends up really hurting your mana! So you should be careful about spamming this spell. Great for Trash!
Regrowth spell really shines with the Regrowth Glyph. You can spam this baby and heal a tank from 1%-100% in a matter of 3 GCD's. Be sure to watch your mana, it can steals it like golum and that ring from that movie frodo and his "Partner".
For our part, Nourish spell would be amazing, in particular, with the 4 piece effect but its just overshadowed by regrowth. It is a faster cast time, and lower mana cost, but the fact that you have to have every hot up on the target to make it effective, really we don't see it as viable as regrowth. We will have to research this further.
We like Rejuvenation spell very much. We can spam Rejuvenation every GCD for 2 minutes straight without the use of any cool downs, like innervate or clicky trinkets. It heals for 1300-1500 without the glyph every 3 seconds, nothing new, but with the crazy mana regen we have, we choose this over many other options for raid healing. Having this on a target also gives you the opportunity to instantly swiftmend the target. Be sure to know the fights, and pre hot people who you think will take damage, it is much easier to heal groups this way, dont worry about mana issues especially in heroix.
Keep in mind that we are using this naxx 25 relic to reduce Rejuv mana cost. The actual stats on it say reduced mana cost by 106. Now take into account mana reducing talents it makes it actually -91 in caster form and in tree form only -70 mana per cast. ot to great, but we make use of Rejuv so much we think it matters. If not go for the Lifebloom Trinket clearly.
Healing Touch spell was used when the only good glyph we could get pre-wrath was the 1.5 less cast time HT but healed for 50%. Might be good for boomkins, but now nourish just beats this out, along with regrowth. Healing touch is simply too long of a cast to be of any worth with all of our other abilities. This spell is to only be used with Nature's Swiftness and MMM 12k+ heals.
Lifebloom has been through a lot, still a solid spell. Great when stacked 3 times and paired with the new and improved idol of the emerald queen. Now it can be stacked to heal for over 1k hps a second, not to shabby if you can maintain that. Likewise, you can look to the Lifebloom glyph for an extra second while maintaining your rolling LB for some extra time to throw out some different heals.
At that moment, Heroics are a joke, we don't know what they were thinking. But regardless as we stated before, only hard part of these, is finding a tank who is defense capped. As far as healing in heroics, for AoE damage we tend to pop one Wild Growth, and Put a rejuv on each person followed by a life bloom that we let tick off, or DPS depending on your gear.
For the tank, and huge single target healing it really is situational. If the tank is low, a quick way of healing is throwing a rejuv and swiftmending it. The hot will stay if you have the swiftmend glyph that we went over last post. Regrowth is also huge burst healing spamming it on a tank is one of the most effective ways to heal up a tank. There is always the O SHeit button of Nature's Swiftness Healing Touch, (Crits for around 12k now) non specced. Don't forget lifebloom stacking, and regrowth + swiftmend easily 15k of heals no matter what your gear is. And if you are really on top of your game, the group can stay above 80 % for a whole instance. It's pretty lawls.
