EVE Salvaging Guide

Author: inwowgold Source: http://www.inwowgold.com

Salvaging is one of the most popular professions in Eve Online. We will take this opportunity to tell of the basics of how salvaging works, aiding all players, old and new, who are starting out in the salvaging profession.
For the most part, salvaging is done by mission runners on their own wrecks when they go back to loot, the more money the better naturally. But there is a darker side to salvaging, what can be done is to scan down a mission runners location, warp in, and start salvaging the wrecks there while the mission runner is distracted shooting the NPCs.
Wrecks can be found almost anywhere. You may be on a mission for your agent, going belt to belt, going against your enemy in war-times: any time a ship has been destroyed, a Wreck will be left behind. Depending on the type of ship, wrecks come in different sizes and have different amounts of materials in them. The rule of thumb is that the bigger the ship, the more materials you will be able to Salvage.
What are those rigs? They are in simplest words - implants for ships. They can be fitted into a specific rig slot but cannot be removed - you will have to repackage your ship in order to free rig slots, however you will loose all the rigs you had.
How do rigs work? Mainly they increase one stat of your ship while decreasing another - that way you can create an umber tank sacrificing for an example some speed or power-grid if you don't need it that much. This way you can create more specialized ships, good only in their intended by you field.
Each rig needs one rig slot and a certain amount of calibration points. You can find how much calibration points have your ship in its info screen under fitting tab just below CPU and power-grid bar. Like all normal modules you can not fit. For example, three rigs requiring 200 calibration points each on a ship that have only 400 calibration points to spare.
Rigs are like implants, just for your ship. You can tune your ship to better handle certain features, such as dealing with more damage, strengthening resistances, shortening cycle times, scan ranges, etc. The salvageable materials are used in the manufacture of the Rigs.
Rigs work under the same principle as other modules and implants. They need slots to work, calibration points and, of course, the skills. The basic skill is Jury Rigging, which you will need to manufacture the Rigs or install them on your ship. There are also numerous sub skills which are needed for specific Rigs such as shield rigging, armor rigging. There are numerous types of Rigs, each aimed at different aspects of running your ship, such as shield, armor, electronic warfare and so on.
Player ships drop salvage materials as well. They drop the appropriate materials of the race of the ship. For example, Amarr ships will drop Amarr materials. Note that Sansha and Blood Raider ships are quite similar to those of the Amarr, thus they will yield similar materials.
Tech 2 player ships also drop tech 2 components needed for tech 2 rigs. Tech 2 materials are extremely rare, but the rigs are considerably more efficient than their tech 1 counterparts. Officers and commander NPCs also drop tech 2 salvage materials.
It takes a little time to learn salvaging but we hope you can get the little knowledge of it from our above-mentioned discussion. If you have in trouble or something unclear in your mind, you can ask for our help and we will offer a hand to you. Meanwhile, we welcome your feedback and in return we will do a good job for all of you.
