In Lord of the Rings online, crafting is a part and parcel, especially on the role-playing servers. Mastery of each of the tiers of crafting skills allows players to create items that are more effective than those bought from the in-game shops.
These items can be used individually, traded to other players or sold in AH, which increase the personal interaction between players that is a key part of the Lord of the Rings Online multi-player role playing game as well as providing the potential for keen crafters to earn extra money as they level up from one tier to another.
But most of the players need to finish the initial starter quests before they can pick a vocation and begin crafting, meaning that all players are a minimum of level 5–7 before they get the opportunity to explore this part of Lord of the Rings Online.
Once the initial quests are completed, players will be given a quest that sends them to a Master of Apprentices, who encourages each character to pick a vocation.
Lord of the Rings online, just unlike other Massive Multiple Online, its crafting professions together in vocations. These vocations provide one production profession, like jeweler, cook, tailor, weaponsmith, woodworker, scholar or metalsmith and a gathering profession, like farmer, forester or prospector.
There is a link between the vocation's gathering and production professions all the way. The third profession can be either a gathering or production profession and is typically unrelated to the first two options, as can be seen below.
The players must consider their choice of vocation carefully and take into consideration such things as the membership of an active kinship which may have many players of varying levels of crafting skill or whether they intent to have a number of characters, all of whom will specialize in different vocations.
Note that the players can change vocations at any time, however, all progress, crafting recipes, belonging to a profession will be lost if the new vocation does not include that profession. In other words, if a player changes their vocation from Tinker to Explorer, then their Jeweler progress is wiped out and any Jeweler crafting recipes are lost.

Production professions use the resources collected by one of the gathering professions to create items. For example, a Weaponsmith uses ingots provided by a Prospector to craft items such as axes and swords.
