With Jewel-crafting only, using your emblems of heroism to buy the rare gems and cut them into whatever sells for the most then sell them on the AH is another thing you can do.
This strategy can also be applies to any other professions as we've done it with Tailoring, Alchemy and a few others. You do just research what items from your craft are selling for a lot of gold, but that you can buy the materials for very cheap. This part may include a little work in researching but its well worth your time. Now you can get all your mats, craft the item, sell on the AH and repeat as often as you like.
