Introduction
Cooking is useful, because eating food restores lost Hitpoints. As someone new to the skill, you may find that you may often burn food that you try to cook. The more your level increases, the less food you will burn. As your Cooking skill increases, you will also have access to a wider range of foods that you are able to cook. You can cook food on an open fire or on a range.
Fires
Creating a fire using a tinderbox by using the Fire-making skill, you have the option to cook your food in any area of RuneScape as long as you have a tinderbox and some logs your inventory.
To cook using a fire, left-click on the item you would like to cook in your inventory so that it will be clear in white, then left-click on a fire.
Cooking Ranges
Cooking on a range
You can also use Cooking ranges, which are located in the surrounding of the land of RuneScape. Using the range allows you to cook wider variety of food and food will be less likely to burn if cooked on a range. Once you have your raw/uncooked food, left-click on the item you would like to cook from within your inventory, so that it will be clear in white, then use it with the Cooking range.
Cooking ranges can be found by looking for the Cooking range symbol on the world map.
Cooking More Than One Item
The 'Cook X' option allows a player to cook multiple foods of the same type without having to select the item repeatedly. When you use a food item with a Cooking range or an open fire, a screen similar to the one below will appear.
After this screen appears, you can right-click on the object shown and the option to cook one, five, X or others. Then all items will appear. To cook one item, select the 'Cook 1' option. To cook five items, select the 'Cook 5' option. To cook X amount of food, select the 'Cook X' option and type for food you would like to cook. To cook all of the same type of food in your inventory, simply select the 'Cook All' option.
The Cooks' Guild
Location of the Cooks' Guild
The Cooks' Guild is aimed at players with a passion for improving their culinary skills; it is located west of Varrock. To enter, you must be wearing a chef's hat (and have a Cooking level of at least 32) or a Skillcape of Cooking.
The Cooks' Guild is a good place to make apple pies because of the re-spawning items you will need, such as cooking apples and pie dishes, and the fact that the guild is a large windmill to make the flour for pastry.
Necklaces of skills will teleport you directly to the guild.
Ground Floor
On the ground floor of the Cooks' Guild you will find the flour bin of the windmill (this is only full of flour when you have placed grain into the hopper and operated the controls on the second floor), a sink, a chocolate bar on the table and the pie stall. If you have completed the hard tasks in the Varrock Achievement Diary, you will also have access to a small bank on the ground floor.
The Pie Stall (Members only)
Talk to Romily Weaklax and you will be able to buy low-level pie from him. Alternatively, to make some money, you can sell all pies to Romily and he will pay you a good price per pie you sell to him.
If you offer to help Romily with his stock of pies, he will ask you to make some pies. If you do not know how to make the pies he wants, go to Romily's 'Trade' option (by right-clicking on Romily) and buy the Pie Recipe Book for 5gp. This book contains recipes for the pies of Runescape.
Gather the ingredients, make the pies and bring them back to Romily. He will then pay you for your efforts. The more pies you make, the more money you will make!
