The Mage class can do the highest damage output in the game. Their spells are deadly in their own right, but if speced in talents from the Fire talent tree, they gain an incredible amount of spell power and massive increases to their critical strike abilities. This raw power will allow Mages to burst damage onto opponents, killing them in mere seconds. This works great for the solo Mage while leveling to 80 as they can roll through monsters and gain experience quickly. Downtime is the only issue that Mage has to worry about. For Mages, they've so much fire power that often they burn through it rather quickly so stopping to drink and regenerate mana is often a necessity. But they've spells to conjure food and water allowing them to not have to rely on buying items from vendors. The Fire talent tree is focused solely on damage output and killing things quickly. The followings are the great talents available to the fire Mage for the purposes of leveling to 80.
5/5 Improved Fireball reduces the casting time of your Fireball spell by .5 seconds.
By reducing the casting time of your most commonly used spell you will be able to cast more often and more quickly. This talent alone will improve the DPS you dish out to enemies allowing you to take them down more quickly.
3/3 Incineration increases the critical strike chance of your Fire Blast, Scorch, Arcane Blast, and Con of Cold spells by 6%.
Increased critical strike chances for some very commonly used spells will again improve your damage per second.
2/2 Improved Fire Blast reduces the cool down of Fire Blast spell by 2 seconds.
Having an instant cast damage spell available is always useful. You will be casting Fire Blast almost every time it becomes available. This talent will ensure you can cast it more often, causing more damage.
5/5 Ignite - Your critical strikes from fire damage spells cause your target to burn for and additional 40% of your spell's damage over 4 seconds.
This talent is free additional damage any time you land a critical hit with a fire spell. As many of the talents we will be taking improve your critical strike chances, this talent will activate very often causing increased damage.
1/1 Pyroblast hurls an immense fiery boulder that causes 141 to 187 fire damage and an additional 56 fire damage over 12 seconds.
Pyroblast is opening spell. It has a long casting time so it takes a while to let it loose but when it hits, it hits for big damage. Don't let the damage numbers on the description fool you, Pyroblast will rank up in power as you do by learning new ranks of it from your class trainers.
2/2 Flame Throwing increases the range of all fire spells except Frostfire Bolt by 6 yards.
More range on your fire spells will allow you to get more off before melee enemies can get in range to attack you. A great talent for the solo leveling fire mage.
2/2 Burning Soul reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting fire spells by 70% and reduces the threat caused by your fire spells by 10%.
